Carolina Clash Recap

(Long post alert… but worth it)

One of the biggest races in the country of the year. Only our third real Senior class race. Some of the best drivers in quarter midget racing. That what the Clash is and was.

Our expectations coming into the weekend were to learn a lot against the best and have fun. And our goals were to make as many cars to the B Mains as we could. Anything more would be icing.

Well… not only did we get ALL the cars into the Bs… but we got ALL THE CARS INTO THE As! WHAT??? All. Three. Cars. In the Senior classes at the Clash!

We came into Saturday in the Bs in Honda and Animal. And the C in Light 160. And our little guy got up on the wheel against some of the best and went from the C->B->A in Lt 160, B->A in Senior Honda and WON the Senior Animal B to make it to the A.

Whatever happened in the As was the icing. Just complete all the laps and improve from our starting positions was all we hoped for.

In the Honda we get hit from behind early and it bent something. But we soldiered on and stayed on the lead lap and finished 8th.

Then came Sr Animal… starting 7th we got collected in and incident early. But then something happened… E drove all the way to 2nd behind the best QM driver in the country Case James Racing. And not only did he get behind him, he stayed with him. Even caught him a few laps. And they put a gap on the field.

But heartbreak happened with less than 10 to go - on a restart while running 2nd, E got spun coming to the green and clipped in the left rear, knocking off the chain. So into the pits we came and out at the tail of the field. Finished 9th.

But his run didn’t go unnoticed. The amount of friends and competitors and handlers who congratulated E after the race and all day was overwhelming. We are glad people saw what he did against the best.

Light 160 - the poor guy was tired. 7 intense races and over 200 laps later, he was gassed. But he still ran fast and competitive and finished 8th.

For now, we are just gonna enjoy this moment.
