"IT JUST WASN'T MY DAY DAD"... AND IT'S UNDERSTANDABLE WHY
On the long drive home from the final Dixie Shootout Series race in Florida, dad asked Elliott "why did you make so many mistakes this weekend buddy?"
"Well dad, it just wasn't my day. We are human, we all make mistakes." - Elliott
And he's right. Considering we weren't even sure we'd make the trip to Florida after an early week trip to the doctor following a frustrating battle with pneumonia, to get the results we did with one pooped kiddo wasn't too bad.
AND A FINAL NOTE... it was bittersweet to race with our buddies Case James Racing and Weston Freeman Racing one last time in their last races. It was sad, and there were tears 😭, but we're so happy we got a chance to race with them this year and learn from them. You guys are the best we've ever raced against.
THE GOOD👍, THE BAD👎 & THE UGLY🤮 IN GEORGIA
We don't even know where to start about this past weekend's Dixie Shootout Series race at NGQMA - North Georgia Quarter Midget Association. Our goal going in: put all three cars in the A and grab a top-five finish. Well, mission accomplished. But it only tells a little bit of the story. Want to know more? Read the recap below.

Heat: P6->P3
B-Main: P1->P3
A-Main: DNS
Recap: 🤮 DNS? What? Well, we had a STACKED heat and still was able to finish 3rd. And the car was FAST (as fast as Case James Racing and Weston Freeman Racing). Good for the pole of the B-Main. Even though the car slowed down a lot in the B, but we still made the A. But after the race, E said "something was wrong in the back of the car." After the race, we inspected the car and found the LR shock mount was cracked at the weld. It wasn't going to make it much longer.
SOME DAYS… ITS JUST NOT YOUR DAY😢
But that’s ok. We gotta remember the big picture. We are still 9 years old. Competing against the big dogs. The best of the best. And in the end, we put all three cars into B Mains at a national event. Against E and D mains. We are proud of that. And happy for all those still racing tomorrow.
But also heartbroken 💔 for our friends Awesomeness Racing Team who should be running for a national championship but are not. But you’re still a champion in our hearts. So proud of you.
Considering who didn’t even makes Bs… and who didn’t make As… it’s a HUGE accomplishment to do what we did this weekend. 😍

Heat: P4->P3
B-Main: P4->P8??
Recap: Outside row starting spot. Freight trained back to the back. Too timid. Couldn’t make it back up front in a race with minimal cautions. Oh well.
SOME DAYS JUST AREN'T YOUR DAYS. BUT WE ARE STILL SMILING😀
After what seemed like months off (but was only weeks), we were back in action this weekend at home - North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA). And while the results don't show the effort or the speed, we left with some new notes and ideas, three damage-free race cars and the feeling that "fifth sucks." Which means the driver is hungry for more. We found some fire!

Qualifying: P5 (of 14)
A-Main: P5->P5
Recap: Heartbreaker. We made the top-6 in qualifying, keeping us out of the B-Main. In the A, we slotted into 3rd and had a great car - maybe our best of the year. But while navigating traffic, a lapped car came down on us and we jumped wheels and came to a stop. After going to the back, we raced back to 5th at the end, but was left wanting much more. Was nice to see the driver pissed! Bonus... we had the 2nd quickest lap in the race. The car was a rocket.
BROKEN PARTS, BROKEN DREAMS… AND A PODIUM 🤪
After a huge weekend of momentum in Darlington, we hoped to keep that going this weekend at home at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA). And while E was on it… the cars, the breaks and some broken parts weren’t in our favor. So we did what we could, learned from our mistakes, and we are already looking forward to next weekend’s Dixie Shootout Series race at NGQMA - North Georgia Quarter Midget Association.

Heat: P7->P4
B-Main: P1->P2
A-Main: P8->P9
Recap: Well… it was all downhill from the heat race. We had a good car, but were in a stacked heat and only made it to 4th in a caution free event. So off to the B-Main. We led early, but finished 2nd. But the car was slower. We weren’t sure why. Well, the A-Main answered it. E got up to 7th but then started falling off the pace. After a trip to the pits to figure out what was wrong, the car continued to be slow and E pulled off. In the end, we found the RF bearings pretty much disintegrated. So pulling off was the right call.
HOLY. 💩. WHERE TO BEGIN 🤗🥰🤯
Our goals for this weekends NASCAR Youth Series National event at Darlington Raceway were met yesterday, when we put two cars in A-Mains in a stacked senior field. So whatever happened today was just gravy for our young driver.
Well… what happened today was Little E showed up against the best and drove his butt off and finished 4th in the Lt 160 A-Main and 6th in Sr Animal!!
WHAT????????
🛢️ Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Sr. Animal 🛢️
A-Main: P8->P6
Recap: What a drive!!! Starting 8th he fell to last on the outside, then proceeded to RACE his way to the front. No lucky cautions. No missing accidents. He raced from 10th to the bumper of 4th. They then got in a crossover battle which allowed the car behind to catch them both and E feel back to 6th at the checkers. But he was there. Our best ever national finish. Until….
WE DID IT!! 😁🍻
Our goal was to try and make at least one A-Main here at Darlington Raceway and we did it… and not only 1, BUT TWO A-MAINS!!!!
E had maybe his best day ever on a parking lot track.
🦷 Seamless Dentistry Sr. Honda 🦷
B-Main: P4->P6
Recap: The Sr. Honda was a bummer. The car was awesome. But we had to start 4th (instead of 5th) 😩 when another car had problems before the green. That mean a freight train to the back at the start. He fell to last but drove back to 6th, but time ran out in the race. The car was good enough to make the A! But that’s racing.
🛢️ Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Sr. Animal 🛢️
B-Main: P1->P2 (Transferring to A-Main!)
Recap: He started on the pole of the Sr Animal B-Main and had a good car, led a bunch but fell to 2nd at the checkers. But we made the A-Main in Animal as well! ✅
LOW ENERGY = SHORTENED RECAP FOR DAY 1 IN DARLINGTON!
We don’t have the energy for a full write up. Today was one of the hottest days ever at the track… like surface of the sun hot.
We did ok. Not great. Went forward in every race. But not enough. So we keep racing lower mains tomorrow.
🦷 Seamless Dentistry Sr. Honda 🦷
Heat: P5->P4
Recap: Car was ok. Got spun and had to go to the back early. Was a little timid but the car was fast. Could only make it back to 4th. Start 5th in B-Main tomorrow.
🛢️ Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Sr. Animal 🛢️
Heat: P8->P4
Recap: This car was awesome. We probabaly had the 2nd best car in the heat but just couldn’t make moves on a track that was hard to pass. Just missed making the A. Start p1 in the B-Main tomorrow.
YOU TAKE THE GOOD WITH THE BAD.. AND LEARN FROM IT, RIGHT???
We were back at it at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) on Saturday. And we had some pretty high hopes. Elliott has been racing well as of late. And being aggressive. And our cars have been fast.
But we kinda… well screwed that all up on Saturday.
While the Lt. 160 was much better thanks to some repairs and help from Ultimate QM, the Sr. Honda was a rocket but E struggled with making some aggressive passes when he should. Driver error. Then, dad screwed up the setup on the Animal and didn’t give E a chance. Dad error.
Oh well… we still learned. Onto the next one.
ANOTHER GEORGIA RACE… ANOTHER GEORGIA WIN! 🎉🏆🥇
Even though this weekend wasn’t supposed to include any racing, mom and dad are crazy🤪 and we loaded up last minute and headed to one of my favorite tracks, NGQMA - North Georgia Quarter Midget Association.
This was a good chance to practice some setups before we come back next month for the Dixie Shootout Series race. And boy we are glad we did.
We learned a lot. We made some mistakes. We had some speed.💨 We were also sloooow. 🐢 We destroyed a car (not by our doing). And we won another race. 🎉
🦷 Seamless Dentistry Sr. Honda 🦷
Qualifying: P3
A-Main: P3->P3 🥉
Recap: Boy was our Senior Honda fast. Quick in practice and 3rd quick in qualifying. We tried some things and it worked. In the race, it wasn’t a 1st place car, but it was a 2nd place car for sure. But the driver made some mistakes in lapped traffic which cost him track position.
WE CAME. WE RACED HARD. WE MET OUR GOALS. WE SWEATED. WE DRANK A LOT OF WATER.
Our initial Midwest Thunder .25 Quarter Midget Racing Series trip has come to an end. And while we are coming home with one expensive repair bill (💰you’re welcome Ultimate QM), we are leaving very happy.
Normally E struggles at new tracks. But he took to Miami Valley Quarter Midget Racing Association this weekend very quickly. And he raced hard! He made plenty of mistakes, which is understandable at a new place, but he learned from them. Some bad luck and bad breaks maybe kept us from finishing a couple of spots better, but that’s ok. 👌🏼
In the end, in our first Midwest regional, at a brand new track, with some tough competition… we made every A Main, finished on the lead lap in each one and gained a ton of experience.
Hard to be disappointed in that. 👍🏼
Now… to fix all these broke parts 🤪🤬😰😩
WELL… WE RACED. AND IT WAS HOT. AND IT WAS ROUGH. AND WE BROKE SOME 💩. BUT WE RACED.
The first part of our Midwest Thunder is complete (FYI… up here they run their shows over two days, so tomorrow we run the Animal).
We didn’t have any expectations - new track, new series, new (mostly) competitors - so we just wanted to be competitive.
And we were. We made both A Mains. We ran some fast laps. And we tore some 💩 up. But seems to be kinda normal. 🤷🏻♂️

Heat Race: P6->P3
A-Main: P6->P9
Recap: Well it started off well - a fast car in practice and our heat saw us go from 6th to 3rd and lock us into the A Main. But that all fell apart on lap 1 of the A Main. We got spun and t-boned. It bent the front axle, shock, panhard bar and more (even our head rest). It also bruised E’s knee pretty badly. But we soldiered on with a badly bent car.
A SOLID ENDING TO THE SUMMER AS WE HEAD TO OHIO
With the threat of rain, last night was a “hustle” and get it done show. And it worked, cause we got all the races and awards in before the bottom dropped out while loading up. And while we only got one podium, we also grabbed two 4th place finishes and learned some more lessons. And with E not feeling 100% due to a summer cold🤧, it was a very successful night.
Also, without telling E, we wanted to get as solid of points finishes that we could. Unofficially, we think we finished 4th in Sr. Honda, 4th in Sr. Animal and 6th in Lt 160 in points. And to finish 4th in Honda, with such a big group of cars and the talent that’s in that class in our first year of Senior racing is a HUGE win for us.💪🏼
Also... a special thank you to one of our friends (and sponsors) Gress Painting (Eric) who surprised us with a visit for the last couple of races and helped out during a busy couple of races.
WE’RE BACK BABY (BY OUR STANDARDS AT LEAST)… AND ANOTHER CUP!!! 🥳😎🥈🏆
Not gonna lie (and our posts haven’t) that the last few races we’ve been on the struggle bus 🚎. Lost speed. Lost confidence. Bad moves. Underperforming finishes. Etc 👎🏼
Good news to report… after a week of talks, coaching and a lot of practice, Little E turned it around and got back to his early season form (and speed).
We walked away from Championship Series 7 with newfound confidence as we head into the second half of the year. And we walked away with a Cup!!
After the race, it POURED so we got to play in the rain!!

Qualifying: P5 (of 14)
A-Main: P5->P4
SOME WORK TO DO… 🤔
Not the best of Summer Series races for us. We got a podium finish out of it at least. But none of the cars (or the driver) performed up to their abilities last night. Still making some of the same mistakes you CAN NOT make in Senior class racing… especially with the talent from top to bottom we have at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA). We’ve got some stuff we need to work on, from the driver to car set ups, and after a talk we are going to get to work and get back to our early season form.
🦷 Seamless Dentistry Sr. Honda 🦷
A-Main: P2->P3 🥉
Recap: Sounds like we just lost a position, but it was much more than that. We dropped back to like 7th on the start from the outside lane. Car was ok… lost some speed from practice. But Elliott avoided wrecks, made some good moves and was patient. At the end, he found himself 3rd and held on for another Sr. Honda podium. We likely had a 5th place car, so we will take it.
Indy Nationals Recap | Day 4 Recap
FRUSTRATION BUT A TON OF PRIDE 😡😍
Well our Indy Nationals have come to a close. Unfortunately we didn’t put any cars in A Mains… but it wasn’t for a lack of effort. But just too many mistakes on the track to overcome.
But looking at the big picture… we couldn’t be any more proud.
We ended our weekend in B, C and D Mains - in classes with some of the biggest car counts and with J and I mains. All in our first National event as a Senior.
We transferred through multiple lower mains (from the F to the E to the D) in our worst class (Lt 160).
We raced in a transfer spot against some of the best in Sr Honda for the entire race - just to make a mistake at the end.
And it’s only our 4th parking lot race EVER. A lot of these kids have run four THIS YEAR.
Indy Nationals Recap | Day 3 Recap
MORE RAIN 😩☔️ AND SOME CONFIDENCE 🤣😜
What do you know… more rain. But today we actually ran TWO races… oh the joys of national races. But boy it was worth it.
🥞 Cascade Milling Light 160 🥞
Heat: P3->P5
Recap: Guess this was our mulligan heat. A pileup on lap 1 knocked our chain off and resulted in us starting in the back. After getting up to 4th we got spun (with the offending car not getting a strike 🤷🏻♂️) and restarted 8th again. Finally made some good moves but could only get back to 5th.
F-Main: P4->P2🥈 (TRANSFER)
Recap: He finally figured it out!!! 💪🏼 After making a few changes to the car, Elliott found his aggression and came to life. In a TOUGH lower main, he made some amazing passes, blocked the low line and held off some fast cars during several late cautions. He held onto 2nd behind his buddy Case James Racing and transferred to the E Main tomorrow.
Indy Nationals Recap | Day 2 Recap (Part 1) ☔️🤬
It's raining. That’s its. That’s the update. They got in just one race this morning before the clouds opened up. Looks like we will be down until sometime around 2-3pm today. So likely just the rest of the heats later, and (hopefully) the lap around the big track.
But we were able to kiss the bricks 🧱 this morning - and hang out with some friends. Also waiting out the rain by eating pancakes (good but not as good as Cascade Milling).
And AMAZING to see some of my good friends (Koerner Racing, Bos Racing) sporting their “Little E” t-shirts. Hope it changes your luck Bryce!!
Indy Nationals Recap | Day 2 Recap (Part 2)
Today was full of rain, fun, more rain, a little bit of racing, more rain and a lap around the big track...
Indy Nationals Recap | Day 1 Recap 🥵
Today was supposed to be practice and the possibility of starting heats. But with rain ☔️ in the forecast for the week, they elected to cancel practice and start with heats. And no practice wasn’t ideal because we hadn’t been on a parking lot track since last year and never in a Senior car.
So our Sr. Honda heat race was basically our “practice session.” Not ideal when it’s the biggest race of the year with 60 cars in that class alone.
🦷 Seamless Dentistry Sr. Honda 🦷
Heat: P2->P2
Recap: We will take it!! Starting 2nd we dropped back to 6th on the outside. And our line was… well… NOT GOOD. But with some luck and a little aggression, we were able to make it back to 2nd at the checkers, locking us into the C Main later this week. That’s HUGE for us with this many cars here and Sr Honda having a J Main 😳🤪. With our points total, after heats, we rank 17th of 60! Not bad...
WELL.. AT LEAST WE WENT FORWARD (MOSTLY) 🤷🏻♂️
Our final race of a very busy (and very hot 🥵) June was just that… a race. We did some things wrong. We did some things right. We went forward in all the races, but we coulda been better. We definitely need to work on Elliott’s aggression to make moves in tight spaces. And we need to work on that 160 car. But hey, at least we got our trophy for the Animal win last week!
But now… we get ready for Indy!
🦷 Seamless Dentistry Sr. Honda 🦷
A-Main: P12->P6
Recap: This had the recipe for disaster. 12 cars in a Sr. Honda Tuesday night feature. No practice, heats or qualifying. We drew the dead last starting spot. But, shockingly the race went well. Making some good moves and avoiding carnage, we worked our way up to 5th and ran there most of the race. We should have finished 4th and had top-four speed, but Elliott neglected to make some moves when he should have. Then...
A HOT DAY 🥵, A GOOD REBOUND 😁… AND A HONDA CUP TROPHY 🏆
If you follow along, you know we’ve had a rough past couple races. And yesterday’s Championship Series race 6 wasn’t without its mistakes – but we ended the day with our heads held high, (almost) all our goals met and a legit chance to have podiumed in all three races. And we came home with a Honda Cup trophy. In all our years of racing in Cup races (rookies, two years of Jrs in three different classes), we never podiumed during a Cup race. So this one was special.
And super pumped for my buddy Henry Albright Racing on winning both Lt. 160 and Sr. Honda features! 🏆🏆!
Oh and NF “Clouds” was once again our walk out song!
Onto the recap…
A NIGHT OF MANY DOWNS… 📉 AND ONE BIG “UP” 📈
Summer Series race 3 was supposed to be redemption from last week’s Summer race disappointment – but it didn’t really end up that way… well… until it did. The good… Elliott won his second Sr. Animal race of the year and his first Summer Series race since 2022. And grandma was there to see it and get a photo in Victory Lane. But it only lessened what was another frustrating night – with fast cars, but no other good finishes to show for it. We’ve got some work to do, for sure.
Also a huge shoutout to our buddy Daniel Bergen 🏆 for getting his first competitive win last night, winning the Heavy Honda race! It was AWESOME!
Onto the recap…
WE KNEW THERE’D BE NIGHTS LIKE THIS… 🤬😫
Last night’s NCQMA Summer Series race #2 was likely our most frustrating race as a Senior driver. We’ve been fortunate to have an AMAZING start to our season. We came into the year just hoping to make A Mains - that was the goal. And we’ve been fortunate enough to not only make A Mains, but run up front and earn a win, some podiums and compete for top 5s with FAST cars. But every now and then, we need a reminder that Little E is only 9 and just starting Seniors, racing against 11 and 12 year olds who have been racing Seniors for 2, 3, 4 years… and last night was that night.
And also… a sincere THANK YOU to the handlers who stopped by to offer some advice to Elliott at the end of the night, to give some perspective to a frustrated dad, and to remind us how amazing Little E is doing this year and the respect he’s gaining. It means a lot to hear them say that and give us a pat on the back!
SORRY DAD… NO WINS… BUT A COUPLE RACES FELT LIKE WINS
The running joke is when dads away, we seem to win races. Well, we didn’t get any checkers without dad during the first Tuesday Summer Series race of the year, but a few of our finishes felt like wins. We grabbed our first Sr. Honda podium with a car that was bad fast and coulda finished 2nd. We had a very good Lt 160 race and nearly got a podium, but still got our best finish of the year. Our Animal… well we will just ignore that race. Either way, good start to the Summer Series.
And a huge thank you to Uncle Zach and Mr. Jeremy (Eppy) and everyone else for helping out while dad was away!
Onto the recap…

Recap: OUR FIRST SENIOR HONDA PODIUM AT NCQMA! Boy did we have a bad-fast Sr. Honda on Tuesday night. Starting 7th, we were able to make some good moves and get to the bumper of second place.
A GOOD START TO JUNE!!!
While the results might now show it, we had a great start to our busy month of June. We won our first Sr Honda heat race at home. We set our fastest lap ever in Honda. We had a chance to win Sr Animal. We had our best starts in both Honda and 160 As.
Overall, today was a good day. And considering the competition we have in weekly races at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) - we will take it.
Onto the recap…

Recap: A great day with the Sr Honda. An awesome start in the heat saw us take the lead on lap one and lead every lap.
That put us in for a p2 start in the feature ().
DOUBLEHEADER LEADS TO IRONMAN TYPE OF DAY!!!
We have said it a few times - but our introduction to seniors has been eye opening. And yesterday added to it. With NCQMA’s only double header of the year, it meant a lot of racing. And Little E took that to heart. 🤣
We started the day with a fractured toe - E dropped a sledgehammer on his toe in the morning 🤦🏻♂️. Then after a bad qualifying session, we had to race lowers in 160 and Honda. And we transferred out. All day. That meant his tally yesterday was: 3 qualifying sessions, 4 lower mains, 6 A-mains 😳😳! 10 total races IN ONE DAY. Over 400 laps at one of the toughest tracks against TOUGH competitors with FULL FIELDS.
And to top it off… he WON his first Senior race at NCQMA in the last race of the night!
WHAT A COTTON CLASSIC!
First off, thank you to NGQMA - North Georgia Quarter Midget Association for putting on a great race event. This is one of E’s favorite tracks - so we had some hopes coming in! And it didn’t disappoint.

Recap: this race coulda been more.. we probably had the second or third quickest car of the weekend (no one had anything for Weston Freeman Racing). But we finished 4th. Went to the back early while locking tires passing for 2nd. Then the driver made some big mistakes in lapped traffic which lost him track position and cost him a podium spot. A learning lesson for sure.

MAKING SOME BIG GAINS IN OUR SENIOR YEAR 💪🏼👊🏼
We finally got to participate in a “regular” race today at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA)! After big races to start the year, we had a normal club race this weekend. But with the level of talent at our track, nothing is “regular.”

Recap: Ran a strong 2nd in the heat before inheriting the lead. Then the driver lost his damn mind 🤪 and got off his line, allowing 2nd place to pass him for the win, but still managed to go directly to the B (quite the feat with such a stout field of cars). In the B-Main, we were running 4th in a transfer spot and got together with another car, causing some damage. Couldn’t make it back to the front with just a few laps left! Bummer.
🛢️ Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Salisbury Sr. Animal 🛢️
Heat Race: P2->P4
B-Main: P5->P8
Recap: This class was AGAIN was a heartbreaker 💔. In the heat, we got in a crossover battle with another car that caused us to lose a ton of track position. He learned to “park” the other car and when he did, he pulled away and was as fast as the leaders. In the B-Main, the car wasn’t as good but the top 4 GAPPED the field, which was going to be an easy transfer to the A for us… until it wasn’t.
(Long post alert… but worth it)
One of the biggest races in the country of the year. Only our third real Senior class race. Some of the best drivers in quarter midget racing. That what the Clash is and was.
Our expectations coming into the weekend were to learn a lot against the best and have fun. And our goals were to make as many cars to the B Mains as we could. Anything more would be icing.
Well… not only did we get ALL the cars into the Bs… but we got ALL THE CARS INTO THE As! WHAT??? All. Three. Cars. In the Senior classes at the Clash!
We came into Saturday in the Bs in Honda and Animal. And the C in Light 160. And our little guy got up on the wheel against some of the best and went from the C->B->A in Lt 160, B->A in Senior Honda and WON the Senior Animal B to make it to the A.
SENIORS RACE 1: WE MADE IT!!!! 💪🏼🤣🥳🤪
Race 1 at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) of our “year of learning” is in the books and we made it through with some successes, some learning experiences and three fully intact cars. And it was so cold 🥶 we are just thawing out. Woohoo!!
🏳️ After a LONG rain delay, we moved to qualifying instead of heat races. The results:
Senior Honda: 10th (of 18)
Senior Animal: 2nd (of 7)
Light 160: 8th (of 16)
🏴 It put us in the B-Mains for Honda and 160 - and we found ourself at the front of both fields. 😳
- Honda: p4 -> p1!!! | He took his time and got to the lead from p4 and held on TO WIN, locking us into the show.
Practice… well it sucked. Not good.
Qualifying… much better. Just missed the pole in Sr Honda and Light 160 - qualifying 2nd in each. Despite being the only Sr. Animal, we set the single car track record in qualifying.
Races… started first in Sr Honda, lead about 30 of 40 laps… lost the lead in lapped traffic but got it back on a restart and won our first Sr. Honda race.
In Sr Animal… well thankfully beat the competition (just us) but ran some fast laps. Won. Kinda…
In light 160 - started on the outside in 2nd, dropped to 3rd early and caught the leaders. But 2nd had a mechanical problem while we were on his bumper and we had no where to go and we locked onto him. It put us in the back. Drove back to 3rd and was quick, just ran out of time. Still, a good run and a very fast car. Fun racing with Cale Weavil Racing and congrats Barrett 4th Gen Motorsports - would have loved to have battled it out with you.
Overall… really good day. Man we love NGQMA!!
OUR 3RD LITTLE 500 IS A WRAP!!
Wow… we don’t know what to say about this weekend. We came in with no expectations and no idea what this Senior class adventure would hold.
And it ended up being an AMAZING experience.
Our goal was to just make some A Mains… we ended up making 3 of 6. We finished 6th twice and 9th. And even the races we didn’t make, Little E ran well! But Senior competition is no joke…
We learned a lot. We made new friends. We saw all our other friends. We raced all new competition. We drove hard. We made some mistakes. But most of all, we just had fun. We were reminded that this racing thing can be fun!
Thank you to all of those that were so supportive of our first Senior adventure - from the fist bumps at the track to the words of encouragement before races to cheering us on online! 💪🏼😍
E said it was one of his best weekends ever in racing!
Finally! The 2023 North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) season is complete. 12 Championship races. 6 Summer races. 2 special events.
And boy we are tired 😴!
Our final race of the year went much like the last few weeks… a few ups 👍🏼… a few downs👎🏼.
It started with a LOOOOOOONG rain delay which saw most of qualifying canceled and features determined by pill draw.
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal was SLOW in qualifying. So we swapped motors and the car came to life. Elliott raced in 2nd or 3rd the whole race and held on to grab our 35th podium of the year! 🥉
Tell us if you heard this before… the Dinner with Racers Junior 160 was fast. But after starting 6th, we lost track position early and spent the rest of the 30-lap caution free race trying to catch everyone. We caught the pack, but the checkers flew. 🤬
The Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda was ok…we hung in the top five (of a 12 car A main) most the race but just seemed to down on power. So we finished 6th.
Will have a full recap and stats of our season soon! But we need a Break.
Thanks to everyone!
THE END IS IN SIGHT 😴
This weekend, we wrapped up the Dixie Shootout Series with the final race of the season at our home track. And it was one to… forget. We were just off. Maybe the car set ups were off. Maybe the driver was off. But we were just off.
The star of the day for us was the Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda. We went 4 to 2 in our heat putting us starting 5th in the A main. But that ended not long after it started as you can see by the attached photo. While running 4th on an early restart we got spun and the field piled in, completely shearing off the left rear. Race done. Finished 10th. 👎🏼
The Dinner with Racers Junior 160 was fast - but after starting on the outside we lost track position early, got lapped and couldn’t ever get it back. We were fast - but no finish to show for it. 8th. 👎🏼
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal was again a struggle. And the driver struggled. We were the X car for the A Main, but never got out. 👎🏼
It was our first Dixie race this year without a podium. And while that is disappointing, it’s a HUGE improvement over last year. And it was only our second full race weekend without a podium ALL year.
Today we celebrate with the Dixie banquet. Looking forward to a good breakfast.
IT STARTED GOOD. IT ENDED GOOD. IN THE MIDDLE… 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤪
One of our biggest races of the year - The Carolina Clash - saw over 200 cars show up to North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA). It was a long two days of racing with some serious highs and lows.
Our Dinner with Racers Junior 160 was awesome. Unfortunately, an accident in our heat race saw us just miss a transfer to the A, and instead put us on pole for the B. While leading Little E got a line violation (🤦🏻♂️), but we still transferred in. In the A Main, Elliott showed as much fire as he did all weekend, driving from 9th to 2nd at the checkers, picking up a strong podium finish!
Our Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda - normally our toughest car - went straight to the A from our heat with a 7 to 3 finish. However, our feature race was over about a quick as it began, as a stack up amongst several cars on the initial start bent our rear axle and caused for a major vibration and ill-handling car. Somehow, we held on for a 7th place finish.
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal was good… going 5 to 3 in our heat and putting us 3rd in the B. However, after moving up to start 2nd in the B, we got freight trained to the back and just didn’t make the moves we should have to get back to a transfer spot… not one of our finest races.
DUB AGAIN!!! 💪🏼😎🏁
Championship race number 12 (but really 11… don’t ask us 🤣🤣) was another up and down day.
In the Dinner with Racers Junior 160 - we won our heat race (whoop whoop) putting us 2nd to start the A. But an early accident allowed us to start 1st. We proceeded to lead all 30 laps and collect our first J160 win since the spring. It was a long time coming and felt good as we’ve had a good car lately. 💪🏼
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Animal was ok… we ran 2nd for quite a while, but fell back to 4th at the end. It’s all we had. 🤷🏻♂️
Our Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda was tough. Our heat went green-to-checker and we went 7th to 4th. But that put us on the pole in the B. We transferred and started 8th in the A. We were up to 5th late, but got in an accident and popped our chain with less than 6 to go. We had no chance after that and finished 9th. 👎🏼
We are still pumped to win a race in what we feel like was our best car of the entire year. Time for the Carolina Clash!! Let’s go!!!!
GOT THE DUB!!!
Championship Series race 11 was a of emotions. But for the lows we had, the highs outweighed them immensely.
It started in qualifying where we qualified 2nd twice and 4th, and missed the pole by the slightest of margins (including .004, .04 and .08 ).
In the Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda, we slipped into 2nd early and battled for the race lead the whole race. Late in the race, we got the top spot when a couple cars in front of us got together and then held on through multiple late race restarts. Racing with Weston gave us a run for our money but we were able to pull off our second Junior Honda win this year, and our first in our new Ultimate QM X Wing! This is a major feat if anyone knows how difficult this class is at our track.
The Dinner with Racers Junior 160 was a heartbreaker. We felt we had a chance to win, but an issue during warm ups brought us into the pits and we gave up our 2nd place starting spot. But it didn’t stop E, who drove from 10th to 4th in a 30 lap caution free race. We had an awesome car, but just ran out of time.
FINALLY - after two days, heats are done. Not great results (unless you love the number 4), but we are still alive and ready to rock some lowers.
Dinner with Racers Junior 160 - the car was awesome and we led 10 of the 15 laps, but made ONE mistake and opened the door to get freight trained back to 4th. That puts us 5th in the B main tomorrow.
Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal - a real heartbreaker… started outside pole and got two good jumps but kept having wrecks so nothing counted. Ended up starting single file, passed for the lead TWICE but kept having cautions so it never counted. Then on another restart, left the door open again and got freight trained from 2nd to 6th. Raced back to 4th. That puts us 6th in the B main!
Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda - lost our aggression. Was probably the 2nd best car, but just didn’t make moves when we needed. Had a three-wide finish for 3rd, but finished 4th. That puts us 4th in the C main!
The goal is still to lock our cars in the As for Sunday. We’ve got a shot. Just need to find our aggression!
Today was full of emotions. And ups. And downs. But it was fun. And WAY better than the last time we were here. We kept all four tires on the ground all day.
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal - we won our heat race (😍💪🏼) and started 2nd in the main. We ran 2nd most the race and fell back to 3rd late, but grabbed another Dixie Shootout Series podium and another banner. Congrats Brayden Ickler on the win and RooMax Racing on second - an all North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) podium.
The Dinner with Racers Junior 160 was fast… but the driver was tired after a long day and it showed. Our streak of J160 podiums came to an end with a 7th place finish. Not great 👎🏼
The Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda was a struggle in the heat, forcing us to the B Main. We were right there to transfer until a crash in front of us forced us to hit the wall and break a tie rod - with just 3 to go. We got it fixed but couldn’t make up the spots. We missed the A! 😫
There was good. There was bad. But in the end we still had a great time. Onto Charlotte.
We came into the final Summer Series race wanting to grab a win before the series came to a close. And in the Junior Animal race, we got "oh so close" in a torrid, back-and-forth battle with our buddy Roo (RooMax Racing) that saw both drivers lead laps and perform multiple crossovers. But over the last couple of laps, our driver missed his line and allowed Roo to slightly pull away. Either way, it was awesome to race toe-to-toe with one of the best at our track. But 2nd SUCKS!
In the Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda - well something was just amiss with the car. After an awesome practice Saturday, the car was super loose and missing almost two-tenths of speed in the race. We need to look it over and check it out. 4th was all we had. But huge congrats to Brooks Labonte Racing and Biles Racing on their first Junior Honda wins!
The Dinner with Racers Junior 160 started... in the back once again. We raced to 3rd and the top three cars all had similar speed. We missed the line a couple of times which lost us a little ground, and it was hard to make up with the cars so close. So 7th -> 3rd. Not bad.
A case of “the results don’t tell the full story!”
Championship Series round 9 at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) was… interesting to say the least. With dad gone, Uncle Zach stepped up to crew chief and be the team leader. And we had some good and bad moments.
In the Dinner with Racers Junior 160, we qualified 4th and… yup… had a rocket again. After getting freight trained from the outside all the way to 7th at the start, Little E convincingly drove back to 3rd and was catching 2nd, but ran out of laps. If we only had track position early in these 160 races…
After qualifying 5th (out of 16) in the Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda, we jumped to 3rd at the start of the race and had one of the most epic battles of the year with Brayden Ickler, Kenan Brown Racing and RooMax Racing. All four drivers were racing hard and trading positions lap after lap with epic crossovers and clean passes. In the end, we’d finish 4th, but proud of the racing craft we saw from our driver and all four kids. Amazing stuff.
CONFIDENCE BUILDER NIGHT! On the way home last night, Little E exclaimed "I got a lot of confidence tonight." So we will count that has a win in our books.
The Dinner with Racers Junior 160 was again... stop us if you heard this... a rocketship. Once we made our way to 2nd from 5th, we hung strong with the leader and might have had a faster car, but was just too tight to make the pass. Could he? Maybe. Did he? No. But we will take another 2nd as we tweak the car to make it better.
The Junior Honda division saw the field split with the top points leaders all in the same race to help settle the Summer points battle. In a stacked field, we knew the Seamless Dentistry car was fast. Unfortunately, early contact while passing another car put us into the wall, breaking a tie-rod. We got it fixed and back out, but it just wasn't right. Come to find out the RF wheel was out of wack following the hit. So we struggled home to a 5th place finish.
Our Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal race might have been one of the best races of our career. The top three cars all ran nose-to-tail for the first half of the race.
We needed tonight. Not gonna lie.
After starting out the season with over 20 podiums, we’d hit a bit of a rough patch recently. Thankfully, 3 races and 3 podiums at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) last night got us back on track (despite starting LAST in all three of our races)!
Once again, our Dinner with Racers Junior 160 was a rocket. Started last, jumped wheels at the start and fell a half-track behind, drove to 3rd, spun Biles Racing (sorry), went to the back, got all the way back to 2nd and pressured Brayden Ickler for the win, but ran out of time. Maybe a couple more laps we coulda got him? Either way great job Brayden!
The Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda was also amazing, running our fastest lap ever in the main. Started 6th (yes last), fell way back after getting out of the gas for a crash in front of us and losing all our track position again. Then chased down 4th, 3rd and 2nd from a LONG WAYS back to grab the runner up spot in a caution free race.
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal saw us make one of the best moves of our career to grab the lead just past halfway… but we should couldn’t hold off the fastest two cars week in and week out. But we still finished 3rd.
All in all, a great night. Keep improving and getting better and the wins will come again soon! Confidence builder night for sure.
We just have to keep telling ourselves… two 4th place finishes is good, right?
Championship Series race 8 has come and gone… and it was a frustrating day for sure, full of excitement, disappointment and learning experiences.
The main event was the Honda Cup and our debut of the Seamless Dentistry X-Wing at home. We qualified 4th (of 16) locking into the A. In the race, we slotted into 5th and chased down the leaders. Passing for 4th, we didn’t realize we weren’t clear of the car on the outside and pinched them into the wall, which resulted in a wreck that involved many of our friends. It was a humbling, learning experience. And we took full responsibility for the wreck and apologized to those most affected. We finished 4th, just not having anything for the leaders late in the race.
The Dinner with Racers Junior 160 was a rocket ship. After qualifying 2nd, we set sail on the leader and made a move for the top spot. Unfortunately, we touched wheels and spun. We had some damage, and worked hard (thanks everyone who helped) to get it fixed in time but couldn’t get it repaired before the race went back to green.
Whew! What a long, exhausting and HOT weekend of racing at Music City QMRA for round 4 of the Dixie Shootout Series. And we aren't going to lie - this weekend kicked our driver's butt! He struggled figuring out the right line and being consistent lap after lap!
Starting with the best - the Dinner with Racers Junior 160. We had to come through the B to make the A, starting DEAD LAST in a stacked field. And the first few laps weren't that great. But missing some cautions and gaining some confidence, Little E was able to make some moves (great racing GBS Racing) and drive up from 10th to finish 3rd, picking up his fourth-straight Junior 160 podium in the Dixie Series this year and keeping him in the hunt for the Championship. Congrats Hudson Andrews Racing on your win.
The debut of the brand new Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda Ultimate QM X-Wing was great - from 7th to 3rd in the heat and locked into the A. We ran almost the entire feature in 5th and held off two of the best Junior Honda racers in the country, but missed our line two laps in a row coming to the white flag and dropped back to 7th. Disappointing, but the car is in one piece and we learned a lot.
Well… not quite the way we wanted the old Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda to go out… but man were we fast.
Came from the back to the front THREE times and passed more cars than anyone else before ultimately getting called for a strike where we had position… but hey that’s racing!
Decided last minute to run the Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal just to make sure our engine was ready to go for Nashville. Dad tried some things on the car as well just to test out… some worked, some didn’t.
Excited to get to Nashville for Round 4 of the Dixie Shootout Series and debut out new car - now dad just needs to find the time to put it together.

Our Indianapolis Motor Speedway Battle at the Brickyard weekend has come to an end!
Elliott raced in the Junior 160 A-Main today after making it straight from his heat race on Friday. In the main, dad failed him and didn’t give him a great car. The car was too loose and he spun twice, but still came back to finish 7th in a STACKED field of the best in the country.
In the end, we made one A Main and two B Mains. We had three cars good enough to race in all A Mains (including one of the best Hondas there) but we just made a few mistakes along the way.
Against the best in the country, and in our first true national race, we would consider that a success.

Today… well today was one of those days. This year has been fantastic. Today was not.
As you can see by the photo below… the Dinner with Racers Junior 160 ended up on its top while running 3rd. But despite the flip, we drove back from 10th to 5th. Then the chain popped off while making a pass for 4th. At the end… we limped home 8th.
In the Seamless Dentistry Honda - we screwed up qualifying, had to run the b-main, then drove from 9th to 4th in the A.
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change Junior Animal was not great - but was still running 5th when we got wrecked. Limped home with another bent up car 6th.
Not every day is a winning day. Hopefully the bad luck is out of the way.

3 for Dale. Or 3rd for Dale. Look, if you like the number 3 - tonight was your night as a Little E fan.
Still struggling to get the right handle on the Dinner with Racers Junior 160… just can’t get it locked down. Started 5th, finished 3rd.
The Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda was LOOOOOOOOOSE. After getting collected in a big wreck during warm up and bending front tie rod, he was still able to hold onto it and finish 3rd.
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change Junior Animal was a rocket. Awesome. But so was Roo. And so was Brayden Ickler. We were all very close and it was fun. But, you guessed it, we finished 3rd.
Three races, three more podiums. All-in-all it we will take it.
Thanks

The North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) Summer Series kicked off on Tuesday… with mixed results.
The Dinner with Racers Junior 160 was super fast - but not until lap 20. By that point, we had lost ground in 3rd and finished there in a caution free race.
The Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda was off way off. During the Summer Series they split up the Honda class and we pulled a stacked feature. And the car was too loose. Too loose. Too loose. P4 finish.
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal still lacked some speed. Had a great battle with Roo crossing over at the end and side by side at the finish. Thought we were 2nd, but was scored 3rd.
Hard to be disappointed with two more podiums… but we are gunning for wins! Congrats to my buddy Brayden Ickler on his double win and Aleah Rose Racing on another Senior podium!

In the words of Ice Cube (never heard of him, but dad said so) - Today Was A Good Day!
Not one, not two, but all three cars on the podium. And another victory in the Dinner with Racers Junior 160 by making a last lap pass for the win!
And on top of that, one of my best friends Aleah Rose Racing got her first Lt. 160 podium.
Had a super fast Junior 160. Got put to the back passing for 2nd and spinning. Came back to get to 2nd with a one-lap shootout. And got it done, making the pass coming to the checkers.
The Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda sucked all weekend, but came to life in the A main. Drove from 5th to have an awesome back and forth 1st place battle with Kenan Brown Racing. Unfortunately the car got tight late and we finished 3rd.
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis was strong… started 2nd and finished 2nd. Congrats Brayden Ickler on the win!
Dixie Shootout Series Round 3 is in the books! And boy it was an up and down day. What a cool track!
The highlight was the Dinner with Racers Junior 160 - where we picked up a heat race win and a runner up A main finish and a third-straight podium!
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change (Kannapolis) Junior Animal was also on rails - and was on track for a 3rd-place finish when a lapped car stuffed us into the wall with less than 8 to go.
The Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda was a pinball… running 5th and spun. Back to 6th and put into the wall again. Limped home to a 10th place finish.
Thank you Ultimate QM and Raptor Racing Engines! Also Scott McLaughlin, Jennell Troiano - Real Estate Broker/Realtor, Bransen Drilling, and FortyFive Designs!
Not the day we were hoping for in Championship Race 5 at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA).
Managed another podium, getting a 3rd with our Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal!
Confused after we struggled all day with our Dinner with Racers Junior 160, despite running our fastest laps ever in practice yesterday. Back to the drawing board.
Up and down day in the Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda - terrible qualifying - won the B main - got up to 3rd in A Main- lost podium on last turn! Ugh!
At least all three cars come home with no major damage. Now to get ready for Dixie Shootout Series #3 at Space Coast Quart Midget Association in sunny Grant, Florida.
Whew... 14 hours. 2 full raceday programs. 3 qualifying sessions. 6 races.
3 Podiums!
1 Victory!!!
Another amazing day. The competition here is the best in the country, which makes us proud of results like these.
As Elliott says… “it’s a good day when there are no cars at your trailer at the end of the night.” (Cause they are all in tech).
We didn’t have winning cars in any of the classes today, but the driver was fast and aggressive and captured THREE podiums on Saturday night at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA). A second and two thirds!
Full recap to come, but a good day!

What a day. Exhausting! Hot! Frustrating! Rewarding! Hard Working! Thankful!
Our strong start to the season took a turn in the Dixie Shootout Series race at New Smyrna Quarter Midget Racing Association.
Had to go through B Mains in the Junior Honda and Junior 160 races. But put all three cars in the As.
Got collected at the start of the Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda race in a crash and bent something in the rear end. Just soldiered on and survived to finish 9th.
D-E-S-T-R-O-Y-E-D the Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal in practice. Thanks to Andy and Dale from Ultimate QM for helping us rebuild the car, but the motor laid down in the feature and finished 9th.
Finally figured out an EXTREMELY loose Dinner with Racers Junior 160 in the Main and drove from 9th to 3rd! Another Dixie podium!
Opened the 2023 North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) season with not one, but TWO feature wins, including my first ever Junior Honda feature win! And anyone who knows, knows how hard it is to win anything at NCQMA - the toughest QM track in the country.
Of course there will be a full recap at some point, but for now just enjoying the great start to our season.
And can’t say THANK YOU enough to all those that helped while dad was out of town. And thank you Uncle Zach for stepping up as crew chief! Oh, and Dad... you're fired! haha
We had a great start to the 2023 season and our debut with our new X-Wings on Saturday night in the first round of the Dixie Shootout Series at NGQMA - North Georgia Quarter Midget Association.
The Dinner with Racers Junior 160 was a rocket ship. Our UltimateQM X-Wing and Raptor Racing Engines power grabbed us our first ever Dixie podium with a 2nd!
Our Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal was just as fast! Running a strong second and pressuring the leader while gapping third, a lapped car spun and we had no where to go, just clipping them. The damage resulted in a flat RR and a trip to the pits. After that, a loose handling car on the new (old) RR resulted in a disappointing 7th place finish.
The Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda was a struggle… the car just wasn’t right and we didn’t transfer out of the B - highly disappointing.
As always, check out our YouTube channel for Little E's review in his own words. We promise you won't leave disappointed!
It’s SPOOKY SZN! It’s also still RACE SZN!
Racing, candy, trick or treating, candy, costumes, candy, decorations… and candy. Come check us out North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) tomorrow for a full slate of racing, all free to watch.
Sweet As… it’s time to race again!
Excited for the Dixie Shootout Series finale at our home track North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) this weekend.
Racing all three cars with hopes of bringing home one of those cool helmet trophies. Living my best life!
See that excitement in my eyes? Just pumped we are finally getting to race again at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) tomorrow.
Heats and features. Non-points. That means checkers or wreckers!!!! (Not really, dad would be pissed considering next week is Dixie)
But it’s sure to be a good time! And pumped to see my friends again. Come check it out!
Still running on the high of our first Junior Animal WIN on Tuesday night, we are super pumped to hit the track Saturday!! We will have all 3 cars competing so plenty of racing action!!
We are ready to turn our luck around and hit the track North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) this Saturday!! Finally getting back in our Dinner with Racers Junior 160, we can’t wait!! Will also be racing our Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda and Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal. Lots of racing so don’t miss the action.
