WOW… WHAT A NORTH GEORGIA NIGHT
As our pre-race post said… Elliott “Trayno” (IYKYK) loves him some NGQMA - North Georgia Quarter Midget Association. No idea why. Just ever since the first time he came here as a Blue Rookie, it clicked. And on Saturday night, “it clicked” once again.
After a 14 hour day, 9 races on the track between 3 cars and like “a gazillion laps on the track” according to E - we came home with our FIRST double podium in a Dixie Shootout Series race - in one of the biggest Dixie races in recent memory (over 215 cars).
Before the recap - a huge thanks to our friends GBS Racing for helping us all weekend. They do great at scraping tires!
Thank you to Ben Buzze Racing for tons of racing advice all weekend.
And a massive thanks to all of our friends and competitors (and strangers) who came over to offer their congrats and give “Treeno” (IYKYK) fist bumps after his A mains.
Our little team had GOOD NIGHT!
Cascade Milling Sr. Honda
Heat: p4->p4
C Main: p3->p2
B Main: p8->p4
A-Main: p10->p2
Recap: We spent some serious time in this car! A frustrating heat (we led until getting freight trained late) saw us play the alphabet soup. E transferred from the C to B to A. In the A, he drove his butt off! He was patient, smart, aggressive, calculating and fast - and finished behind his buddy Edison Carter Awesomeness Racing to take SECOND in Sr Honda in a field of 28 cars. (Also congrats to my buddy Andrew Salazar Racing for an awesome day and the Hard Charger award)
🛢️Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Concord Sr Animal
Heat: p5->p4
B Main: p1->p2
A-Main: p8->p2
Recap: This heat was also frustrating - E jumped out of the gas when some cars jumbled up in front of us so we lost ground and finished 4th. That put us on the pole of the B and led almost ever lap until getting passed late. Then, in the A -the same damn kid who raced his butt off in the Honda race showed up. Fast, aggressive, smart… and he drove from 8th to 2nd to grab his second podium of the night. WOW!!
🦷 Seamless Dentistry Lt. 160
Heat: p1->p1
A-Main: p6->p7
Recap: After practice we thought this would be our best car of the weekend. And with a favorable heat draw, we were able to lead flag to flag and take the heat win putting us straight into the A. But after the LONG day (E fell asleep waiting in the car to go out around 11pm) - he just made some mistakes in the race. We were up to 4th(?) at one point but dropped back. Still had the speed - just not the stamina !
