GOT THE DUB!!!
Championship Series race 11 was a of emotions. But for the lows we had, the highs outweighed them immensely.
It started in qualifying where we qualified 2nd twice and 4th, and missed the pole by the slightest of margins (including .004, .04 and .08 ).
In the Seamless Dentistry Junior Honda, we slipped into 2nd early and battled for the race lead the whole race. Late in the race, we got the top spot when a couple cars in front of us got together and then held on through multiple late race restarts. Racing with Weston gave us a run for our money but we were able to pull off our second Junior Honda win this year, and our first in our new Ultimate QM X Wing! This is a major feat if anyone knows how difficult this class is at our track.
The Dinner with Racers Junior 160 was a heartbreaker. We felt we had a chance to win, but an issue during warm ups brought us into the pits and we gave up our 2nd place starting spot. But it didn’t stop E, who drove from 10th to 4th in a 30 lap caution free race. We had an awesome car, but just ran out of time.
The Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Junior Animal was a mess. We got hit from behind while lining up which bent the chain and caused it to pop off multiple times during the race. We made several trips to pit road to keep fixing the chain during the race and lost our track position. And we were passing for 3rd on the white flag lap and it popped off again, causing us to finish 6th!
Despite the bad, it was an amazing day. A good confidence builder (we needed that) heading into some big races! Thanks to Dale Raber and everyone at Ultimate who helped Uncle Zach get these cars super fast.
And a HUGE congrats to one of my best buddies Aleah Rose Racing, who won in her Heavy Honda debut! Whoop whoop!!
Back at it next weekend!
