Summer Series R.4 Recap
WELL.. AT LEAST WE WENT FORWARD (MOSTLY) 🤷🏻♂️
Our final race of a very busy (and very hot 🥵) June was just that… a race. We did some things wrong. We did some things right. We went forward in all the races, but we coulda been better. We definitely need to work on Elliott’s aggression to make moves in tight spaces. And we need to work on that 160 car. But hey, at least we got our trophy for the Animal win last week!
But now… we get ready for Indy!
🦷 Seamless Dentistry Sr. Honda 🦷
A-Main: P12->P6
Recap: This had the recipe for disaster. 12 cars in a Sr. Honda Tuesday night feature. No practice, heats or qualifying. We drew the dead last starting spot. But, shockingly the race went well. Making some good moves and avoiding carnage, we worked our way up to 5th and ran there most of the race. We should have finished 4th and had top-four speed, but Elliott neglected to make some moves when he should have. Then at the end, we were too cautions and lost 5th. But still, after starting last in a 12-car main, to come home with a car in one-piece is like a win.
🛢️ Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change - Kannapolis Sr. Animal 🛢️
A-Main: P4->P4
Recap: Ugh… once again, a SUPER FAST car. Ran the second fastest lap of the race, but ended up riding around in 5th on the bumper of 3rd and 4th for most of the race instead of making the pass. We need that aggression. Made a pass late to finish 4th, but had a WAY better car than that. But congrats to our friend Hudson (HECracing) on his first Sr. class podium.
🥞 Cascade Milling Light 160 🥞
A-Main: P6->P6
Recap: We really started good in this car at the beginning of the year, but as the weather and track have warmed up, we have struggled with pace. We are about the 6th best car and that showed on Tuesday night. We got up to 5th, then slipped back to 6th and that’s where we finished. We need to figure that car out. We aren’t missing it by much – less than .03 seconds from the fast cars, but that’s all it takes.
