WELL… WE RACED. AND IT WAS HOT. AND IT WAS ROUGH. AND WE BROKE SOME 💩. BUT WE RACED.
The first part of our Midwest Thunder is complete (fyi… up here they run their shows over two days, so tomorrow we run the Animal).
We didn’t have any expectations - new track, new series, new (mostly) competitors - so we just wanted to be competitive.
And we were. We made both A Mains. We ran some fast laps. And we tore some 💩 up. But seems to be kinda normal. 🤷🏻♂️

Heat Race: P6->P3
A-Main: P6->P9
Recap: Well it started off well - a fast car in practice and our heat saw us go from 6th to 3rd and lock us into the A Main. But that all fell apart on lap 1 of the A Main. We got spun and t-boned. It bent the front axle, shock, panhard bar and more (even our head rest). It also bruised E’s knee pretty badly. But we soldiered on with a badly bent car. We came in and fixed the panhard bar (thanks Landon Cox Racing). But it wasn’t meant to be. Had a top 5 car… Finished 9th.

Heat Race: P3->P6
B-Main: P6->P5
A-Main: P11->P8
Recap: Like at NCQMA… we just can’t seem to figure out the Lt 160 this year. We are always “just a little” 🤏🏼 off. Same with today. The car turned some super fast laps… but just like .1 off the best cars. And some cautions didn’t fall our way so we were the X car for the main. But others misfortune (😢 Racing with Weston) was our fortune and we got to make it out on the track. But still… the car was “just off”. We hung with the pack, but couldn’t pass them. Finished 8th.
Tomorrow we will have the Animal still - our best car. We got the track time today - hopefully we can apply it.
Icing on the cake today was getting to race in front of some of our extended family - grandma, Aunt Deb, Aunt Linda, Aunt Gloria, Uncle Tommy, Cousin Amy and Cousin Jed. Thanks for coming out to watch us!!!
