Dixie Shootout R.6 Recap
"IT JUST WASN'T MY DAY DAD"... AND IT'S UNDERSTANDABLE WHY
On the long drive home from the final Dixie Shootout Series race in Florida, dad asked Elliott "why did you make so many mistakes this weekend buddy?"
"Well dad, it just wasn't my day. We are human, we all make mistakes." - Elliott
And he's right. Considering we weren't even sure we'd make the trip to Florida after an early week trip to the doctor following a frustrating battle with pneumonia, to get the results we did with one pooped kiddo wasn't too bad.
AND A FINAL NOTE... it was bittersweet to race with our buddies Case James Racing and Weston Freeman Racing one last time in their last races. It was sad, and there were tears 😭, but we're so happy we got a chance to race with them this year and learn from them. You guys are the best we've ever raced against.
Onto the recap, then some much needed rest until we head back to Florida for the Little 500.

A-Main: P5->P6
Recap: This was our best car of the weekend. We diced for the lead in the heat race, but finished 2nd and went straight to the A-Main (out of 20 cars). In the A, Elliott got to 4th, but made some mistakes and got hung on the outside and shuffled back. Also bent a front tie-rod trying to avoid an accident in front of us. Then, the car also went away in the cool weather, but we survived to finish 6th.

A-Main: P6->P5
Recap: Really thought this car would finish better. But by the end of the day, Elliott's energy was zapped and he wasn't on his line. He hung with 3rd and 4th, but started missing his line lap after lap and lost ground. We had a 3rd place car, and finished 5th. Still not bad all things considered.

B-Main: P10->P6
Recap: Wow did dad miss the setup ALL WEEKEND in this car. Like terrible. Threw the kitchen sink at it TWICE and it still didn't help. E did the best he could with this car, but it 💩 all weekend. He never really had a chance.
