Championship Series R.1 Recap

SENIORS RACE 1:  WE MADE IT!!!! 💪🏼🤣🥳🤪

Race 1 at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) of our “year of learning” is in the books and we made it through with some successes, some learning experiences and three fully intact cars. And it was so cold 🥶 we are just thawing out. Woohoo!!

🏳️ After a LONG rain delay, we moved to qualifying instead of heat races. The results:

Senior Honda: 10th (of 18)

Senior Animal: 2nd (of 7)

Light 160: 8th (of 16)

🏴 It put us in the B-Mains for Honda and 160 - and we found ourself at the front of both fields. 😳

- Honda: p4 -> p1!!! | He took his time and got to the lead from p4 and held on TO WIN, locking us into the show.

- 160: p2 -> p5 🤦🏻‍♂️ | Leading the 160 B-Main with just 10 laps to go, he left the bottom open and got freight-trained back to 5th by some experienced kids, making us the X car for the main.

🏁 So we at least got the chance to suit up for all three A-Mains:

• Seamless Dentistry Honda: p7 -> p8 | Another learning experience. The car was good enough to finish 5th to 7th… but a mistake early put him a lap down and he couldn’t recover. Bummer.
• Cascade Milling 160: p11 -> p11 | Never made it onto the track as the X car.
• Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change Animal: p2 -> p3 | Made a mistake early that coulda saw us take the lead. Then got spun and had to restart at the back. Drove back to 3rd and had a SUPER fast car but ran outta laps. A podium!! But so dang excited my good buddy GBS Racing won his first race! I was pumping my fist in the car after the race.

All-in-all WE DID IT! Made it through the day. Dad didn’t yell (maybe a few stern words)… cars in one piece… we looked like we belonged. It’s the beginning of a learning year for us!
